The overriding responsibility of every classroom teacher is to do their utmost to engage in good teaching practice so that students can develop their full potential as learners.
There are many positions and theories about what makes good teaching practice. IWBNet believes that Productive Pedagogies promoted by Education Queensland and the Model of Pedagogy promoted by the NSW Department of Education and Training provide comprehensive accounts of what good teaching practice is about. This course is structured around elements of good teaching practice as defined by these two models.
Good teaching practice also encourages in students forms of thinking such as creating, evaluating, analysing, applying, understanding, and remembering. These forms of thinking are built in to all of the sessions of the course.
Of course good teaching practice does and should occur without IWBs. However this course is focussed on IWBs and how IWBs can powerfully support and extend good teaching practice.
