This presentation was
presented by Andrew Dobbyn at the Sixth National IWB Conference in 2009.
Description: As a
busy teacher you don’t have the time to plough through copious websites,
read countless abstracts and download flipcharts, only to find they are
not of any great use. It takes time to find good resources that are
appropriate to your year level, and units of work. Over a couple of
years working with the IWB in Junior Schools I have collated some
excellent resources, and used some very good software packages. This
session will not only allow the participants to go away armed with some
great resources but will aim to help them integrate board use into their
daily routine to compliment learning. |

2009.
Description:
Digital technology has a key role to play in today’s classrooms to
support teaching and learning. In this session we will explore the fun
world of physics through PHUN. Phun is a 2D based program allowing
students to create a world of objects which bounce, collide, swing, run,
drive, fly and flow. Phun allows students to explore physics, science
and further enhance their imagination using technology. This program is
freeware. Participants will be provided with a one page flyer with web
addresses and a few tips and tricks. |

This presentation was
presented by Fiona Banjer at the Sixth National IWB Conference in 2009.
Description: In
this session you will be discussing a range of online communication
tools that enable classes to engage with others all over the world.
Freeware such as Skype, VoiceThread and other open source applications
remove barriers to communication such as cost and complexity of use. The
goal of this session is to establish links to new partners through
networks such as ‘Windows on the World’, Twitter and Ning project
groups. Participants will share the experiences of Fiona’s early years’
classes with travel buddies and how these online tools have been adapted
to suit our context. Access will be given to a list of resources to make
use of on returning to school. The IWB offers a powerful opportunity for
young users to participate and interact appropriately in wired social
situations as they learn to communicate in new and changing contexts. |
