This presentation was
presented by Fiona Banjer at the Sixth National IWB Conference in 2009.
Description: In
this session you will be discussing a range of online communication
tools that enable classes to engage with others all over the world.
Freeware such as Skype, VoiceThread and other open source applications
remove barriers to communication such as cost and complexity of use. The
goal of this session is to establish links to new partners through
networks such as ‘Windows on the World’, Twitter and Ning project
groups. Participants will share the experiences of Fiona’s early years’
classes with travel buddies and how these online tools have been adapted
to suit our context. Access will be given to a list of resources to make
use of on returning to school. The IWB offers a powerful opportunity for
young users to participate and interact appropriately in wired social
situations as they learn to communicate in new and changing contexts. |
