This presentation was presented by Fiona Banjer at the Sixth National IWB Conference in 2009.

Description: Game consoles, such as the Nintendo Wii and handheld devices such as the DS are commonplace in the homes of our students. In the classroom they are considered ‘innovative’ tools and some teachers are making effective use of them to draw learners into the curriculum and sustain student engagement. Research supports the integration of learning experiences which embrace the technologies our young students play with. The IWB in your classroom becomes a tool with which to cross the bridge between the classroom curriculum and your students’ gaming worlds. During this session we will discuss how to share the resources fairly, how to advocate for their use in the curriculum and, if possible, also have some time to play!
