This presentation was presented by Nicole Ball and Debbie Crowe at the Sixth National IWB Conference in 2009.

Description: Interactive Whiteboards are an exciting tool in the numeracy and literacy block. In the whole class teaching session it is easy to model strategies and skills then use this information to refer back to during sharing time. Students love assisting in shared activities and they are empowered when they see their own work used as a teaching model for others. The IWB can be used to assess student learning with students able to showcase their understandings. The whole class share time is extremely powerful, especially when student work is utilised to discuss the how and why of their work. Having the work on the IWB for all to see, makes this accessible to all and promotes discussion focused on the purpose of the session. Examples of activities students use in independent small group sessions will also be demonstrated.

This presentation was presented by Marita Thomson at the Sixth National IWB Conference in 2009.

Description: Storylines is a theme based literature program developed for Years 7 and * English classes. It is prepared and delivered by teacher librarian team members once a cycle. We prepare a presentation that brings together literature, film, audio, websites, interactive – anything which develops our theme and engages our students. Now in its third year, we have struggled with the issue of presenting a seamless multimedia program with limited face to face time. We are also now using this model for sessions with Year 12 English classes to introduce related texts for HSC literature modules. Switching this year from PowerPoint to SMART Notebook 10 has lifted our performance and lowered presenter stress. This session will demonstrate how software features have enhanced this program, including: using media files as inclusions and attachments; incorporating clips from ClickView and Screen Australia; page groups; capture; record; animation; moveable objects; using interactive websites; import from PowerPoint; export to PDF.
