Description: An integral facet of Geography at level 1-3 NCEA is for students to have an understanding of spatial patterns. The ability to visually manipulate phenomena with the interactive board is a useful tool to communicate an understanding of location. This session will demonstrate ways to teach location of phenomena and how to develop an understanding of spatial variation.

Description: This session will show how toscaffold skills such as cross-sections, précis sketches and graphs with the interactive white board. Being able to visually show the steps, then have students practise, enables the teacher to connect with both the visual and kinesthetic learner. With the interactive whiteboard the time needed to teach these skills is reduced allowing more time to include fun games that imbed the understanding of the skills.
