The Aboriginal Lands District is a group of 12 Schools in South
Australia. Nine schools in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Lands spread across
half the North West of the State, two schools are in the remote West and
Wiltja is the Secondary annex at Woodville in Adelaide. Most students
are at Anangu and speak either Pitjantjatjara or Yankunytjatjara as
their first language.
Of the 12 schools, eight now have IWB's. Six schools were in the
first group to install them during term 2 2005. In each of these schools
it was interested staff who had the first option on a board and all
schools are beginning a second wave of users/ board installation now. It
has been interesting to see the different situations chosen by schools.
By far the most successful model is where a teacher (or two) has the
board in their own classroom and is using it on a daily basis. |

Klemzig Primary School has had IWB in every classroom since the
beginning of 2005. Our staff meets each fortnight to share practice,
ideas, lesson plans and pedagogy. Smartboards are integrated into all
facets of the curriculum and seen as a vital resource and tool to
support student learning. Our IWBs are used across the school. We find
them particularly beneficial for visual learners such as, our Deaf and
hearing impaired students, those from an ESL background and students
with learning disabilities. |

We would welcome any visit to any of our school to look at our IWB
implementation. We can also provide conference type facilities for 5-500
participants should an extended workshop/investigation wish to be
considered. |
| State of Development |
2006 marks the introduction of IWBs at Trinity College. We have 21
boards in use at the Senior School in all faculty areas and up to 5
boards at each of our other schools with the exception of the preschool.
All computers connected to the boards have full network and internet
access as well as dedicated ceiling mounted data projectors and sound
systems. The boards are used to enhance our current teaching and
learning programmes and we look forward to assessing their impact on
both staff and student ICT skills and curriculum integration. We hope to
continue deployment in years to come. |

The school is into its first year of using IWBs and already has 19
boards in use. The boards are in every classroom plus the resource
centre. All boards are connected to the school network with full
internet access. The boards are used as an additional educational tool
to support our integrated ICT curriculum. Our units are developing
curriculum resources to share between classes. |
