Fifth National IWB Conference - 2008
Registrations are now open for the Fifth National IWB Conference on 14, 15
and 16 August 2008. The conference will be held at Firbank Grammar School at
Brighton, Melbourne.
The theme of the Conference is: IWBs Support and Extend Good Teaching
Practice.
The Conference is timely for all teachers and school leaders as they meet the
challenge of implementing the Digital Education Revolution a major part of the
Commonwealth Government Education Revolution.
Funding from this Government initiative can be used by schools to purchase
computers, data projectors, interactive whiteboards and other ICT equipment.
This is an excellent opportunity for teachers and school leaders who wish to
spend the money on interactive whiteboards to learn about how IWBs can be used
skillfully, proficiently and imaginatively to enhance teaching and learning in
the classroom.
The 2008 Conference will go way beyond the IWB as a presentation tool and
focus on the power of the IWB to support and extend good teaching practice. The
Conference will have a highly practical emphasis as it did in 2007.
Sessions will cater for beginning and experienced users of IWBs; primary
and secondary teachers and school leaders. Throughout the two
days, hands on coaching sessions conducted by classroom practitioners will be
available.
Optional classroom tours will be held at the school from 1.15 pm on Thursday
14 August for those teachers wanting to experience the boards in a classroom
setting with students. Both primary and secondary classrooms will be covered.
An “Early Bird” registration fee is available until 30 June 2008 at $395.00
plus $90.00 to attend the Conference Dinner at the Savoy Hotel, Brighton. The
full conference registration fee thereafter is $425.00 plus $90.00 for the
Conference Dinner.
